Despite very challenging weather this last week,

Despite very challenging weather this last week, our guests had an incredible week! Not one day without seeing at the very least orcas and they also got to experience baitballs, humpbacks, inquisitive orcas and even fin whales in the area.

A great group of guests and memories for life 🐋

Orcas can spend a lot of energy and hours for the right situation to feed. Having an ethical approach to observe something like this carousel feeding event is crucial. Overcrowding or irresponsible behaviour (disturbing the ball or making it difficult for the orcas to maintain it) can lead to the orcas abandoning the feeding.

Regardless of the situation - Always remember to be nothing more than an observer and never interfere with the natural behaviour of any animal.

This humpback whale lunged through herring (feeding) right next to this diver. You can see the full mouth as water is pushes out through the baleen plates, swallowing only the herring that remains. Always a humbling experience seeing these animals up close! 🐋
