Orcas can spend a lot of energy and hours for the right situation to feed. Having an ethical approach to observe something like this carousel feeding event is crucial. Overcrowding or irresponsible behaviour (disturbing the ball or making it difficult for the orcas to maintain it) can lead to the orcas abandoning the feeding.
Regardless of the situation - Always remember to be nothing more than an observer and never interfere with the natural behaviour of any animal.

Norway has some of the most impressive and well maintained fishing vessels in the world. Seeing the large trawlers heading out to go fish herring, or smaller vessels inshore, fishing for cod or prawns is always very amazing to see during our orca and humpback expeditions each winter.
There is so much to see on the water on any given day 🐋🐟

In recent years we have been seeing more humpback whales than before and groups of as many as 30 or more in an area is not unusual. Join us in the water to see these magnificent animals, as well as orcas feeding on the herring that migrate into the north Norwegian fjords this Nov/Dec.

During the educational day of our expeditions, our aim is to have all guests understand everything they might see during their week with us. This includes a detailed section on the roles of the Kystvakt (Coast Guard) and Fiskeridirektoratet (Directorate of Fisheries).
These government entities along with the Sjøfartsdirektoratet (Maritime Authority) play a very important role in monitoring the fisheries as well as the conduct of all vessels at sea. In the last few years their part in regulating the whale watching industry has also become more important and it is always a pleasure to see them on the water.
Here you see two vessels we very often encounter at sea during the season - 'KV Bison' and RIND.

Orcas leaving a fjord at the end of the day with the younger one carrying something in the mouth. Orcas will often 'play' with natural debries and marine life in the water and can often be seen pushing jellyfish or toying with seaweeds.
