A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE…

We start early every morning as we set out to find orca and humpback whales which allows the opportunity to dive with. During these hours you could potentially already encounter several pods on the way as they set out to start feeding on herring in the fjords that line the coast. Adhering to strict ethical and safety standards, once a suitable pod has been located, you will be given the opportunity to enter the water in small groups. With you in the water at all times is a highly trained and qualified Freediving Instructor and guide with knowledge and experience of the marine life and conditions you will encounter.

As the migration patterns of the herring changes, there is no ‘fixed’ location and the herring and whales often move throughout the vast network of fjords this coast is famous for. We are constantly in touch with local sources to find where the whales are active which also means we often explore new beautiful locations on a daily basis, offering guests beautiful views of the stunning Norwegian fjords.

HOW TO BOOK

SMALLER GROUPS, BIGGER EXPERIENCE

Our mantra is “smaller groups, bigger experience”. We take up to 4guests on board per yacht so we are flexible to take into account personal interests and wishes. It gives us excellent opportunities to enjoy the wildlife and visit places where the larger boats cannot go.

Our skippers and guides have a unique knowledge of the area and will be able to take you to breathtaking locations, secret hideaways and local happenings. Our goal is also to let our guests experience the local culture and eat high quality local food and all meals are prepared and served on board. The yacht serves as base, so you live and sleep on board and explore during the day.a

CETACEA WE ENCOUNTER

The two main species of cetacea we encounter during our expeditions are of course orcas (orcinus orca) and humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae), although it is not impossible to also see other whale species during winter. This includes Fin Whales, Pilot Whales or even Sperm Whales  and closer to shore we have also often seen dolphins (most commonly White Beaked Dolphins and their smaller cousin the Harbour Porpoise. ). For Blue Whales and Belugas, have a look at our Svalbard Expeditions!

NORTHERN LIGHTS & ARCTIC LANDSCAPES

Our orca and humpback expeditions take place right underneath the Northern Lights Oval, making it the ideal location to see these magical lights. Tromsø is one of the best places on earth to observe the northern lights and each year thousands of tourists travel to this region only to see them. We are fortunate enough to have it as a ‘bonus’ to our winter expeditions and the northern lights can be observed on most nights where we have clear skies.

The northern lights are the strongest from the beginning of September until the end of April and our Arctic Freediving expeditions all fall well within this period.
