Most notable sights would be
- Sea calving glaciers
- Ice floes and ice bergs (very common)
- walruses
- high likelihood of Blue Whales and other whales like Minke, Fin Whales etc.
- potential beluga sightings
- potential Polar Bear sightings
- lots of puffins, arctic terns and other marine bird species
- foxes, reindeer, seals etc.
- stops at places like
- Ny-Ålesund (the most northerly research town)
- Pyramiden / Barentsburg (Russian terretories, with Pyramiden being completely abandoned)
- stops at suitable landings with a highly skilled guide.
- and more… simply google ‘Svalbard wildlife’ for a taste!
Due to the incredibly poor visibility underwater in summer, this will not be a diving or snorkeling expedition and the primary focus will be land and topside sea based with emphasis on spending enough time for guests to photograph / explore interesting sights.
It is really a remarkable place to visit and during summer you have daylight 24 hours a day making it even more special.
